In 1896, the author Mark Twain wrote “You gather the idea that Mauritius was made first and then heaven, and that heaven was copied after Mauritius”.

In 1841 Charles Baudelaire wrote the poéme “A une dame créole” inspired by Mauritius, also Joseph Conrad, Bernardin de Saint-Pierre and Patrick O’Brian wrote about it.

We booked the flight to Mauritius as a joke, we were looking for a new place to visit on honeymoon, and I deeply fell in love with Namibia and also Jordan, but they weren’t good for January, and when Mrs. Airfrance sent us the newsletter with “Mauritius super cheap flights!” we thought it would have been nice to take our swimsuits, flipflops and nothing else, so we did it.

Tropical Island we are coming!

And we went, and it was hot, more than hot, and the Indian ocean was paradisiac for real, tropical flora was gigantic, birds were colourful and mountains were sauvages.
We lived it as a punk-honeymoon, no swans on our bed (damned!), no resort, no 5 stars food, we lost ourselves between mauritians, and I ate more “dissenten” pills than local cuisine.

I have to admit I am not a real beach-girl, it’s the second time I try to convince myself after Santorini, and it doesn’t work as I always dreamt in my mind, because 5 minutes later I saw the beach, I am ok, I don’t need to stay more. Now I know I wouldn’t be happy to visit Polinesia or Caraibi, and the most coolest place is the one I live in, and other without beaches.

This summer I decided to spend my holiday with mummy, she deserved it. Brussels was the choice, but the flights were more expensive than NYC, and we picked Paris up!
My bro and Michi decided to join us, so it became a kind of family trip, a tour of the Parisian hot spot, to show to mum la Ville Lumière for her first time. It was more than funny for sure, I don’t remember the last time I laughed so much.
Mummy lived her days in Paris with camera stuck in front of her face, I’ve never saw neither my bro taking so many pictures, and she reminded me of Marietta in “Whatever Works” (Woody Allen 2009). Hope she will find a new way to live.

Illuminazioni at La Biennale di Venezia – 54° Esposizione Internazionale d’Arte

Clara came to visit me for a whole week, that was a kind of rollercoaster holiday, we did EVERYTHING.
We also took a day to visit La Biennale in Venezia, one of the most hurries days.
I didn’t like it as the last edition “FARE MONDI”, but I enjoyed United States, France, Luigi Ghirri, and the lift game.

My Big Fat Greek Trip

Last February I booked a flight to Santorini, I never went to Greece, it never has been my kind of holiday, but I always wonder if I could join those landscapes I always saw on Internet, you know what I mean, white and blue tiny little houses, and seaview everywhere.
I finally visited Santorini, the honeymoon place for Americans (even for others, but Americans especially love it).
I fell in love with it, it’s a kind of jewel in the middle of the sea, you can rent a scooter (or a quad for Americans) and ride all the island all day long (something brought me back to teenage era), there are probably 45°C, but it’s so windy that it’s like being in 25°C. You can find more English people there than in London, so it’s like being in the EF advanced course. Landscape are breathtaking, for real, and greek people are nice with you, probably cause you mean money to come in, but anyway they are nice. Then, if you find yourself in Perissa, stop at the Bakery, the most fat dessert place in the world, I will miss it for the rest of my life.
I have to admit after 2 days of beach I really had enough, and I had to find something to do, which it’s quite hard, and I was supposed to find a lots of fish to eat, and found anything cause there are no more fish in the Aegean Sea close to this Island, really sad. So if you like meat&beach, that’s the right place for you. If you have to make a wedding proposal, is right as well, I guess.
I have to thank Marios and Vichy from Amelie Hotel, they were so so kind with us (I will miss that bench guys!).

This is my brother’s job, and he makes it so well!

iPad Sketches from Lido

Everyday I had my appointment with iPad to draw who I met at the Lido.
I have to admit the Biennale di Cinema is something I fell in love with, and hope to go back next year.
Waking up in the morning and going straight to the cinema to watch movies, was a nice way to live.

Kew Gardens aka One of the places I always wanted to see

I always wanted to visit The Royal Botanic Gardens, for one reason: The Palm House.
Even though I’m not a plant biologist/ architect/ engineer, it always has been one of my passions. Finally two days ago I put my feet inside, and I started playing hide and seek behind gigantic leaves, talking to a tiny bird, smelling the umid air (which is not good for my asma), and found that I could have loved this man in 1800: Decimus Burton.

Also there is the Temperature House, which is quite comfortable while outside is november 30th and it’s freezing.

When I went to Japan, these posters surprised me a lot. There were many types of it in Tokyo Metro.
